Recognition & accreditation

How the Graduate Diploma is recognised, and what it means for your career.

Is this a real qualification? Yes. Two national bodies check it. TEQSA, the national regulator, registered Fairmont and accredited this course. ACECQA, the national early childhood authority, approved it as an early childhood teaching qualification on 17 August 2026.

The Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood is an AQF Level 8 award delivered by Fairmont College Australia. It is TEQSA accredited, and Fairmont is registered with TEQSA and listed on the National Register.

Check us yourself. Look us up on three public registers: TEQSA’s National Register (Provider ID PRV14386), ACECQA’s list of approved qualifications (listed under Australian Early Education Institute) and ABN Lookup (ABN 13 656 749 941).

TEQSA registration

Fairmont is registered with the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA), the national regulator of higher education in Australia, as an Institute of Higher Education. Registration means a provider is assessed against the Higher Education Standards Framework, and its courses are accredited by TEQSA to be delivered.

AQF Level 8

The qualification sits at Level 8 of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), the level of graduate certificates, graduate diplomas and bachelor honours degrees. It signals advanced, specialised knowledge and may support an application for a master’s degree. Admission, and any credit, is decided by the institution you apply to.

Professional recognition for teaching

ACECQA (the Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority) approves early childhood teaching qualifications nationally. The Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood is an ACECQA approved early childhood teaching qualification (approved 17 August 2026).

ACECQA lists the qualification under the name of the company behind Fairmont, Australian Early Education Institute, on its list of approved qualifications.

In Victoria, early childhood teachers must be registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT), and registration depends on holding an approved qualification such as this one. Other states and territories have their own rules. The Careers page explains how registration works.

Quality assurance

Fairmont is subject to ongoing TEQSA oversight, periodic re-registration and re-accreditation, and internal academic governance through its Academic Senate, all designed to safeguard the standard of the qualification you earn.

International students

Fairmont is not registered on CRICOS, so we can’t enrol students who need a student visa. See the International Students page.
